Unlocking Eye Chests: The Disillusionment Spell

The key to accessing eye chests in Hogwarts Legacy is the Disillusionment spell. This spell is essential for approaching these chests, which get startled and close if you try to interact without it. You obtain the Disillusionment spell early in the game, as part of the “Secrets of the Restricted Section” main quest.

How It Works

Once you have the Disillusionment spell, activate stealth mode to sneak up to the chests. When you’re close enough, interact with the chest to open it and claim your reward of 500 gold.

Eye Chest Locations in Hogwarts Castle

Library Annex Eye Chests

• Library: Located in the basement of the Restricted Section. Visit during the quest or return later to collect your gold.
• Greenhouses: Spawn at the large tree, then descend the spiral staircase.

Astronomy Wing Eye Chests

• Professor Fig’s Classroom: Inside the bathroom, right by the teleportation point.
• Defense Against the Dark Arts Tower: On the second floor, tucked away in a corner.
• Astronomy Classroom: Near the end of the wooden walkway, opposite the Floo Flame.

Bell Tower Wing Eye Chests

• Bell Tower Courtyard: To the right of the Floo Flames teleporter, up the steps and along a narrow corridor.
• Hogwarts North Exit: Re-enter the school grounds and check the ramparts to the left.
• Flying Class Lawn/Beasts Classroom: Above the stone steps leading back into the castle.

Grand Staircase Eye Chests

• Lower Grand Staircase (Kelpie Statue): To the left of the spawn point, next to the Kelpie Statue.
• Lower Grand Staircase (Dungeons): Go right from the spawn point, all the way down the corridor.

Great Hall Eye Chests

• Viaduct Courtyard: Climb the steps from the fast travel point, towards the back section near the castle walls.
• Boathouse: Fly right from the spawn, enter a cave next to a waterfall, swim to the cavern, and find the chest at the pier’s end.

South Wing Eye Chests

• Clock Tower: During the Clock Tower Puzzle, stop the clock’s hand near the second symbol to unlock a mechanical door with the chest inside.
• Faculty Tower: Up the stairs, in a locked room filled with pots and kettles, beside a legendary chest.

Secret Rooms Eye Chests

• Map Chamber: Above the spiral staircase, connecting to the Bell Tower through confusing corridors.
